NASA uses shape memory alloy technology. Under specific temperature conditions, the physical properties of this alloy material will change significantly. After the alloy is pre deformed, when the pre deformed shape memory alloy is heated to make its temperature exceed the alloy phase transformation temperature, the shape memory alloy material will return to its shape before deformation.

NASA scientists made a paraboloid shaped lunar antenna from shape memory alloy at room temperature, then kneaded it into a small ball with a diameter of less than 5cm, put it into the Apollo 11 capsule and launched it to the moon. On the lunar surface, it was heated by sunlight to restore it to its original paraboloid shape. In this way, the space limited space shuttle cabin can be used to transport bulky antennas.
